This Tuesday a controversy broke out in tennis: Novak Djokovic will play the Australian Open despite not being vaccinated against COVID-19. And at the same time the world found out that Russian tennis player Natalia Vikhlyantseva will not be able to be in the tournament because she was vaccinated with Sputnik V, which is not recognized by the Australian government.

Unfortunately, I will not participate in this edition of the Australian Open. I am happy with the level of tennis I exhibited in recent tournaments and I wish to play in Australia, but Sputnik is not verified yet. Good luck to all the participants and the tournament team, who always put on amazing events.Vikhlyantseva recounted on Twitter.

Djokovic received a medical exemption to avoid getting vaccinated. Why? Because only fully immunized players or with a medical permit can be present at the Australian Open, due to restrictions to enter the oceanic country.

Opposite realities. Organization in question.
