COVID in Jalisco: UdeG alert due to saturation of the health system in the State by omicron

Although the delta variant dominated last year, in the last two weeks the trend was reversed and there are more cases of omicron, according to a study by the house of studies in 932 samples that will be sent to the Institute for Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference.

Last year, delta was present in 81.2% of the cases. But in the last two weeks omicron dominates in 95.5% of the infections evaluated.

And because omicron is more effective at dodging vaccine antibodies and because it is four times more transmissible than delta, the increase in infections without prevention measures could saturate the system, with more care, more tests and more hospitalizations, they confirm.
