Bad news for the Italian team and Juventus: Federico Chiesa suffered a cruciate ligament injury in his left knee, so he will miss Italy’s World Cup play-off, which includes a semi-final with North Macedonia and a possible final against Portugal, and the rest of the season.
Chiesa, who was replaced visibly in pain in the first half of this Sunday’s Roma-Juventus, went on crutches on Monday morning to J Medical, the Juventus medical center, and the tests confirmed the extreme’s bad feelings.
“Federico Chiesa suffered a trauma from a contusion and a sprained left knee. The exams detected an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament. An operation will be necessary in the next few days ”, informed Vecchia Signora.
Chiesa, one of the leaders of Italy in the victory in the Eurocup last July, will be out for several months and will not be able to help Italy in the momentous World Cup play-off next March.
Italy was paired with North Macedonia in the semifinals and, if they advance, they will face the winner of Portugal-Turkey at the Da Luz stadium in Lisbon. This selection seeks to avoid a new World Cup failure, after his absence from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
