Tragedy in Turkey after the death of a footballer who belonged to the national team [Fotos]

Football in Turkey is in mourning after the defender’s tragic passing Ahmet Calik in a traffic accident on the highway connecting Ankara and Nigde, after his car lost control, according to local Turkish press.

Calik, who was 27 years old, was a central defender for Konyaspor and had played 18 games in the Turkish Super League this season. His team ranks second in the table and he had received five yellow cards.

The accident happened in Gölbasi while he was alone. He lost control of the vehicle and it overturned, the player lost his life immediately. The medical teams arrived later, but it was too late.

He played eight games with the Turkish national team and scored a goal in friendlies against Moldova. He also played for Genclerbirligi and Galatasaray, with the latter he was twice league champion, won a Turkish Cup and a Super Cup.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Ahmet Çalik, who has won the love of our fans and our city from the first day he arrived. My condolences to everyone, especially to the family of our footballer ”, wrote the Konyaspor club on their social networks.
