Thinking about the 2022 MLS season, Inter Miami has taken out the checkbook to make up to three signings among which the Swedish defender Christopher McVey stands out, from Elfsborg of that country, who will be until 2024 in the Florida team.

In addition to being a European player, Inter acquired the services of the central defender, Aimé Mabika, the French goalkeeper Clément Diop and finalized the renewal of midfielder George Acosta.

Chris Henderson, Director of Soccer Operations and Sporting Director of Inter Miami, presented McVey as a promising signing that will strengthen the central defense. “Christopher is a promising addition in a position we needed to strengthen and we are excited about his arrival at Inter Miami. He’s a versatile defender with good stature who can perform effectively at various positions,” Henderson said.

In this sense, the director of operations of David Beckham’s team stressed that McVey “also has a US passport, so he will not be taking up an international spot on the roster, allowing us flexibility as we continue to build a competitive roster for the 2022 MLS season.”

The Swedish footballer comes from making 42 appearances in all competitions with Elfsborg between 2017 and 2021. Among them stands out the participation in five UEFA Conference League qualifying matches, in which he scored a goal and gave an assist.

Among the other signings announced by Inter, the central player stands out Aimé Mabika who last season was in the club’s subsidiary, Fort Lauderdale CF, and has now signed with the big team until 2023.

In turn, also managed to add the French goalkeeper Clément Diop, who already has experience in the MLS and has signed for this 2022 with a club option for the 2023 campaign

Diop, 28 years old, he played with the LA Galaxy for two seasons before joining Montreal. In turn, it was indicated that he had already trained with Inter Miami last year.
