COVID: Mexico reports more than 20 thousand daily cases of the virus

The Ministry of Health (Ssa) reported an increase of 20 thousand 626 new cases of COVID-19 compared to the previous day, for a cumulative of four million 029 thousand 274. To date they have registered 74,392 active cases of coronavirus, with an incidence rate of 57.2 per 100,000 inhabitants, the entities with the most active cases of COVID-19 are Mexico City with 20,889, Baja California Sur with 5,553, and the State of Mexico with 4,898.

This Monday, the infections per day were registered in about 10,000, on Tuesday they were 15,184, the highest daily figure in the last four months. This Wednesday the number grew again after several months of decline.

The figure is announced the same day that the vaccination registry is enabled for people over 40 years of age in the country.

It should be remembered that the Undersecretary for Health Prevention, Hugo López-Gatell, had projected a catastrophic scenario of 60,000 deaths on June 4, 2020. The current death toll is about five times the figure predicted by the official.
