Hispanic was shot dead in hallway of NYCHA building he was visiting in the Bronx

A man identified by the NYPD as José García, 35, was shot to death last night while visiting a public housing building near his home in the Bronx.

Police found Garcia with gunshot wounds to the torso just before 6:45 p.m. yesterday on the ninth floor of a building in Monterey / Twin Parks Houses, a development of the City’s Housing Authority (NYCHA) at 588 East 181st St., Belmont neighborhood.

Doctors rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, but were unable to save him. Garcia lived in Mt. Eden, less than a mile away, he detailed Daily News.

No arrests were made immediately, and police did not provide any description of the suspects or the motive for the fatal shooting.
