Mi Vacuna Jalisco: Postponement of booster vaccination for educational personnel

The COVID-19 booster vaccination date for teaching staff was scheduled for January 8, however it will be postponed, although the Jalisco Ministry of Education (SEJ) stated that it would be before the return to face-to-face classes on January 17.

Due to weather conditions, the shipment with biologics from the pharmaceutical company Moderna will arrive in Mexico late from the United States.

The head of the Secretariat, Juan Carlos Flores Miramontes, reported that this does not affect back to school, since the Board of Health brought its session forward to Monday, January 10.

” We are waiting for the federation to say the exact dates for this period of shipment of the vaccines. We are prepared and we have a flexible plan in such a way that before we regain presence, our teachers are protected, which, I hope, the Board of Health considers, ” he said.

As detailed by the secretary, at the beginning of the school year 78% of parents sent their children to class, while a semester later the figure increased to 95%. They hope this will continue after 15 days of virtual classes.

“If the security protocol is followed, schools can become safe spaces, since there is usually order, established schedules and confined groups that can be taken to isolation unlike parks or public places,” added Flores Miramontes.

In the State there are about 160 thousand teachers who will receive the booster dose.
