The stepfather of Diamond Álvarez, 15, called those who shot the young woman’s life cowards while walking his dog down a Houston street, Texas.
“Whoever shot this girl 22 times in the back… they are cowards,” Tito Mozzygamba told local media.
Investigators from the Houston Police Department have not yet confirmed the number of shots the young woman received, but they did indicate that she was hit multiple times.
At the moment, the authorities They have not established the motive for the crime either., reported around 9:30 pm Tuesday, nor a description of possible suspects. The preliminary information they have suggests that the attacker or attackers were traveling in a dark vehicle that fled down Parkwood Drive.
Relatives don’t believe shooting was random
Diamond’s relatives do not believe the shooting was random. They also allege that the young woman’s phone was taken by someone.
Anna Machado and her husband heard shots not far from the house, so they tried to communicate with the young woman and she did not answer. When they realized that Diamond’s pet had returned to the house without her, they ran to look for her.
The first to run into the dying girl was her brother. The mother attempted to perform CPR (CPR), but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
“I tried so hard to keep her alive. I couldn’t… I couldn’t,” Machado lamented.
They remember her as an exemplary student
The teenager is remembered by family and friends as an exemplary, high honor student at Madison High School.
In front of a makeshift altar in the area where she was shot in the 15400 block of Park Manor Street, several of the girl’s friends came to the scene to pay tribute.
“We went to middle school together. It is very sad how anyone can leave in seconds,” a friend of the deceased told KHOU 11.
“How can something like this happen?” questioned another friend of Diamond’s incredulously, who described her as a very kind young woman.
